About Hearside

For friends, family, partners and co-founders. Hearside is a guided listening exercise for two people sharing one device. One shares, the other reflects back. Then the speaker says it again, and the listener tells the story as “I”—only if the speaker says yes. Then you swap.

It is not therapy or advice, and we don't claim it improves any health outcome.

Your words and voice

Names stay on this device. With someone, there is no microphone and no recording—you simply talk.

With AI, what you type is sent to Google Gemini through Lovable to write a reply. Voice is optional: the microphone is used only when you tap Record, the audio stays on your device until you press Transcribe, and then it is sent to Gemini to turn it into text you can edit before sending. Hearside doesn't save your text or audio. We can't promise where that processing happens or how long the provider keeps it.

Optional ratings at the end (like “Did this help?”) are saved anonymously, without names, stories or audio.

About the timer

The timer is a gentle guide you start yourself. It never moves you on or cuts anyone off. The 2-minute first share follows a common active-listening exercise (Oregon DLCD toolkit, 2025, pp. 175–176); Berkeley's Greater Good in Action suggests at least 10 minutes for the whole practice (GGIA). The other step lengths are Hearside's practical starting points, not scientific doses—change them or choose Untimed.
